Naval Hospital Guam is moving into its new $158 million facility this week.
The new hospital will open Monday.
There will be no interruption of services as the hospital transitions to the new building, located next to the original facility, according to a press release from Jennifer Zingalie, public affairs officer for the hospital.
To keep up to date with where hospital services will be during the transition, patients can visit Naval Hospital Guam's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/USNHGUAM.
The replacement hospital was built because the 1954 building was out of date with current standards in American medicine, according to Zingalie.
"The new design however, provides a modern environment of care, tied primarily to the outpatient ambulatory care model, while retaining a core inpatient capability that is fully functional," the release stated.
According to the Naval Hospital Guam's website, the current hospital will be demolished and the space used for parking.
